The Angel Bee image presented itself to me in 1998 at a time when making art was part of recovering from deep personal grief. The theme of the Angel Bee resulted in a series of eighteen paintings; each unique yet each emerging from my template image representing Divine Inspiration and the little whisper of guidance we ignore to our detriment . Thirteen years elapsed between creating these images and becoming a beekeeper.
My inner creative life was touched by the Honey Bee Diva in 1997 and after a swarm arrived where I lived in 2011, my outer world is now inspired by the cooperative society that is a honey bee colony.
This shamanic communication between Honey Bees and humans is not new in any way; ancient cultures have expressed the sense of honey bees being a gift from the Divine. After more than thirty million years on earth, human behavior is pushing these magical creatures far beyond their intended purpose, and as a result of human carelessness in our relationship with nature, bees are dying all over the world. Honey Bees are communicating with us about the destruction of our world and their kind. Many of us are listening as we are called to change our way of life in service to survival of the honey bee..
The painting featured on this page, ‘Meditation” will be the cover image for The Bee Whisperer: Natural Methods for the Hive Steward which I am currently writing. Until this book is finished “Meditation” will be the temporary cover image for “The Day the Honey Bees Disappeared,” my children’s book about a young girls first-hand experience with Colony Collapse Disorder which is available as a Kindle eBook.
My series of Angel Bee paintings is available as a set of note cards, some are blank, some come with a few words of wisdom. Proceeds from sale of these cards support education about the plight of the honey bee.

Its wonderful as your other blog posts : D, regards for posting . “For peace of mind, we need to resign as general manager of the universe.” by Larry Eisenberg.
I am continuously searching online for ideas that can facilitate me. Thank you!
Generally I don’t learn post on blogs, but I wish to say that this write-up very pressured me to take a look at and do it! Your writing style has been surprised me. Thanks, quite nice post.
Dave,I just returned from my preoblm hive @ which we moved to remote location, the queen is out and the bees are building a 4 inch comb on her box. They don’t seem t be working the frames. There are a hundred or so bees left in that colony and there were big black ants at the entrance to hive. The strong hive overflowing with bees which makes hard to even open the top cover without killing a number of bee when you close it. They were in a pyramid cluster on the bottom of the top cover early this morning. I don’t think they are entering the brood frames either. Is there some way you could come inspect my hives and see what I’m doing wrong. Nothing has seemed to go right with this whole process. I really need some on site help!Chuck Gazlay
that he would send you another queen along with some more bees to coerrct the condition.I’ll come and take a look at your hives, but in the mean time try to relax I don’t think that you have as much of a problem as you think you do. And we can pretty easily equalize the populations if we need to once they are settled in.
